The Gateway St. Charles, Welcome Center and Event Venue

St. Charles is known locally as the Gateway to the Bridges. Because of this association, the city proudly offers The Gateway as an asset available to the community and visitors to the area. It is a historical landmark built in 1916 that welcomes you to St. Charles as you pass by the Imes Covered Bridge and enter St. Charles from the east. The Gateway has a two-fold purpose. It is available as an event venue and the Welcome Center during the summer.

The Gateway Event Venue is available for rental year-round. There is a full kitchen and restroom available for public use. Seating accommodates up to 100 people on the main level and 75-80 in the basement depending on the layout. Chairs and tables are available onsite. The beautiful historic stained-glass windows, small stage, and wooden floor make it a unique and beautiful option for all types of events. The Welcome Center is operated in collaboration with the city of St. Charles and the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. It is full of information about St. Charles and surrounding areas as well as Winterset and the remainder of Madison County. Our friendly staff is available to welcome guests and make this information available to enjoy. There are also souvenir options and treasures made by local artisans. If you are coming for the first time, or have not been here in a while, please stop here first! It is a great place to relax and rejuvenate.
